Script Rewrites and Lies – Cast & Crew Upset

A statement “on the behalf of the 80 cast and crew members” said they are “extremely upset and feel taken advantage of by the producer”.

“We are 100% not behind this film and were grossly misled about its intent and purpose,” the statement says. “We are shocked by the drastic rewrites of the script and lies that were told to all involved. We are deeply saddened by the tragedies that have occurred.”

Rosie Gray, from Buzzfeed, pointed out that the film’s overdubs may indicate that the footage was originally made for something completely different.

“Among the overdubbed words is ‘Mohammed’, suggesting that the footage was taken from a film about something else entirely,” she wrote. “The footage also suggests multiple video sources – there are obvious and jarring discrepancies among actors and locations.”

Gawker quoted an actress in the film, Cindy Lee Garcia from Bakersfield, California, who said she had no idea she was playing a role in a blasphemous spoof of the life of Mohammed. The script was entitled Desert Warriors, according to her.

“It was going to be a film based on how things were 2,000 years ago,” Garcia said. “It wasn’t based on anything to do with religion; it was just on how things were run in Egypt. There wasn’t anything about Mohammad or Muslims or anything.”

The scripted role of the “Mohammed” character was written as “Master George”, she said.

Angry Muslims? What About Disgust?

I’m not especially fond of Hillary Clinton but I do have to agree with her on this comment she made, according to The Washington Post:

“The U.S. government had absolutely nothing to do with this video,” Clinton said at a meeting in Washington on Thursday with a delegation from Morocco. “We absolutely reject its content and messages. But there is no justification — none at all — for responding to this video with violence.”

“… that people in the region don’t understand our culture and society, that [the video] was, in fact, a private effort, that it has nothing to do with the U.S. government, that we don’t do these kinds of videos, and that, in fact, as a government, we found it disgusting and reprehensible.”

“… it is hard for some people to understand why the United States cannot or does not just prevent” such videos “from ever seeing the light of day.” But she said stopping such expressions was not only “impossible” but also against U.S. values of free expression.”

I have not seen this movie nor do I have an interest to do so.   Just looking out for my Constitutional Rights.  Furthermore, I’m a bit disgusted by the (seeming) fact that there is no respect for my beliefs and right to free expression.  There happens to be an old saying that goes something like this:  “Do unto others as you would have (want) done unto you.”  Another good one is:  “What goes around comes around.”  Love begets love and hate begets hate.  Simple, so what is your (free) choice?

Peace to all….

Armeblizzard or Snowcalyptic

Either way …. it’s on the way. Maybe it will bypass us for the east coast again. Although, I wouldn’t wish it to be anywhere. My dental hygienist canceled my tooth cleaning because everyone at their office is already planning for a snow day.

PS – sorry for the duplication of a paragraph clippage below. Maybe it was meant to be?

I sense a snow angel in the future.

Corporate Piracy or Genuine Investment

“You don’t want to close your doors and believe you can do everything yourselves,” said Ma Xin, chairman of the Sinocome Group. “That’s a ticket to becoming a Third World country.”

Is it? Or do we open our doors and become “owned” ?? Is the “enthusiasm about the United States” really about ‘a great time of investment?” Or is it about “gotcha while you were down.” Will we remain the land of the free? How many homes that have defaulted, have been purchased by people that live outside this country and are flipped or rented to US citizens?

There is something awry here and I’m still feeling my way through it. (Pun intended). There is just too much topsy turvy going on for me to wrap my brain around it all and feel any comfort. I don’t even know if I’m way off the mark because there are so many varying degrees of what people (in the US) feel these days. God bless us – every one!

Job creation seen as key to China’s investment in U.S.

Chinese President Hu Jintao will highlight Wanxiang’s U.S. operations on Friday during an event in Chicago. Hu is hoping to show Americans that in addition to providing them with cheap goods, Chinese companies can also give them good jobs.
That issue is a critical one in an economic relationship that many Americans feel is unfairly tilted toward Beijing
Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke both complained that China was not open enough to U.S. products, had not done enough to let the value of its currency appreciate against the dollar and was not respectful of U.S. intellectual property rights
Among leading Chinese entrepreneurs, the United States was second only to Hong Kong in a survey of potential destinations for investments
“There is a real enthusiasm about the United States,”
Until China figures out a way to link itself to “the idea of job creation . . . you are always going to have a negative perception of China in the United States,”
