Radioactive Water From Palisades Nuclear Plant Spills Into Lake Michigan « CBS Detroit.
Radioactive is radioactive no matter how slight! I really dislike when the news plays down serious situations. 79 gallons?!! I don’t care how “slight” or how little, this needs to be corrected. I say “SHUT ‘ER DOWN” until she’s fixed! THE ENTIRE PLANT.
The people need to vote on this situation. They did it in Sacramento 20 yrs ago and the people’s vote was heard.
“In the immediate aftermath of the disaster, the foreign media, including the BBC, hailed the men as the “Fukushima 50.””
In fact there were never 50 of them. Hundreds of workers stayed at the plant, braving high levels of radiation to bring the reactors under control. Many are still there today.
BBC News – Why Japan’s ‘Fukushima 50’ remain unknown.
Very interesting news article – update on Fukushima and Japanese loyalties. Should be read and shared.
A statement “on the behalf of the 80 cast and crew members” said they are “extremely upset and feel taken advantage of by the producer”.
“We are 100% not behind this film and were grossly misled about its intent and purpose,” the statement says. “We are shocked by the drastic rewrites of the script and lies that were told to all involved. We are deeply saddened by the tragedies that have occurred.”
Rosie Gray, from Buzzfeed, pointed out that the film’s overdubs may indicate that the footage was originally made for something completely different.
“Among the overdubbed words is ‘Mohammed’, suggesting that the footage was taken from a film about something else entirely,” she wrote. “The footage also suggests multiple video sources – there are obvious and jarring discrepancies among actors and locations.”
Gawker quoted an actress in the film, Cindy Lee Garcia from Bakersfield, California, who said she had no idea she was playing a role in a blasphemous spoof of the life of Mohammed. The script was entitled Desert Warriors, according to her.
“It was going to be a film based on how things were 2,000 years ago,” Garcia said. “It wasn’t based on anything to do with religion; it was just on how things were run in Egypt. There wasn’t anything about Mohammad or Muslims or anything.”
The scripted role of the “Mohammed” character was written as “Master George”, she said.

I’m not especially fond of Hillary Clinton but I do have to agree with her on this comment she made, according to The Washington Post:
“The U.S. government had absolutely nothing to do with this video,” Clinton said at a meeting in Washington on Thursday with a delegation from Morocco. “We absolutely reject its content and messages. But there is no justification — none at all — for responding to this video with violence.”
“… that people in the region don’t understand our culture and society, that [the video] was, in fact, a private effort, that it has nothing to do with the U.S. government, that we don’t do these kinds of videos, and that, in fact, as a government, we found it disgusting and reprehensible.”
“… it is hard for some people to understand why the United States cannot or does not just prevent” such videos “from ever seeing the light of day.” But she said stopping such expressions was not only “impossible” but also against U.S. values of free expression.”
I have not seen this movie nor do I have an interest to do so. Just looking out for my Constitutional Rights. Furthermore, I’m a bit disgusted by the (seeming) fact that there is no respect for my beliefs and right to free expression. There happens to be an old saying that goes something like this: “Do unto others as you would have (want) done unto you.” Another good one is: “What goes around comes around.” Love begets love and hate begets hate. Simple, so what is your (free) choice?
Peace to all….
Detroit Is Not A State Of Its Own
Last time I checked anyhow. This article: http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/05/02/detroit-city-council-member-calls-it-quits/ sounds a bit like the corruption has hit a brick wall. Or has it? Rick Snyder stepped in to help but is he? I’m not fond of Snyder and some of his political beliefs and changes; however, if he has a plan that will work to keep Detroit out of bankruptcy, why not give it a try Kenyatta? Why is it important to you to use some “white power / black power” bullshit comments to make your point? If you have facts to back up those allegations, then bring them forward. Otherwise, shut up.
People must learn to get along already. Take the help and run with it instead of biting the hand that feeds you. When you are back up and running, re-negotiate to get your “black power” back. Honest to God this pisses me off. I don’t care what color anyone is, there’s no need to talk this way people! And why is color even an issue in this??!!
It pisses me off to no end that the news hasn’t slammed this “Kwame Kenyatta” for some of the radical statements he made. Just knock it off already and get a life. Play nice and stop living in the past, and while you’re at it, face the fact that Detroit DOES NEED HELP and people in council WILL HAVE TO MAKE SOME CONCESSIONS. WTF? I had to make concessions during a recession, why can’t Council Members? PS – you can indeed thank your former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his Council comrades for most of the financial issues that Detroit has suffered in recent years.
Detroit will move forward with or without you Mr. Kenyatta. If you have to make insinuations or allegations that there’s an undercurrent of white supremacy controlling your city, then I don’t want you on Council and you can leave anytime; and don’t collect your $200 and don’t pass GO, just go. Sorry you won’t be able to afford those fancy digs anymore.
Even if I am misunderstanding the issue at hand and Snyder’s financial agreement, I still don’t appreciate the news printing this guy’s comments. There was no reason to unless they are calling him out publicly on his comments and want to slap his hand like they’ve slapped other people for making similar comments. This is BS in my book and does nothing but spawn discontent.
I need to chill now. whew.

“The Schwab S&P 500 Index investment fund filed a multibillion-dollar lawsuit against Bank of America (BAC: 6.19 -0.48%) and its former CEO Ken Lewis this week, claiming the bank’s former leadership hid losses at Merrill Lynch from shareholders and made material misrepresentations about Merrill before acquiring the investment bank three years ago.”
Me thinks B of A is in big heaps o’trouble.
