Facebook Privacy Changes on Temporary Hold

You have time to re-evaluate your privacy settings before Facebook implements changes that ‘could’ release your mobile phone number (if you have it on FB) and your address.

What I would like to know is …. re the mobile number. Is that in reference to the phone numbers and address that you have recorded in your profile, or is it referencing the mobile number that you use to set up Facebook-ing from your mobile phone.
.
Think again. Not everyone has unlimited texting. Can you imagine what this would spell for a lot of folks if their number was loose in the hands of spammers? (That’s aside from making a gazillion mobile FB users really really angry).
.
FB needs to find another way to make their idea work without giving automatic approval across the board.

Facebook U-turns on phone and address data sharing

Facebook appears to have U-turned on plans to allow external websites to see users’ addresses and mobile phone numbers.

“Over the weekend, we got some useful feedback that we could make people more clearly aware of when they are granting access to this data. We agree, and are making changes to help ensure you only share this information when you intend to do so,” the firm said.

The updates would be launched “in the next few weeks”, it added and the feature will be suspended in the meanwhile.
